Almost all dental surfaces have a soft bacterial layer called microbial plaque between the tooth and the gum. When this is not adequately cleaned with a toothbrush and dental floss, it creates an environment for harmful bacteria to thrive.<\/p>\n

Harmful substances produced by bacteria cause inflammation in the gums. These bacteria can even damage the layer on the teeth.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

What are gum diseases and how are they identified?<\/h3>

Gum diseases often start with gum inflammation. Bleeding gums are the most common sign. If gum diseases are neglected, the jawbone can be damaged, and teeth may be lost. Severe infections can also occur.<\/p>\n

Along with gum diseases, gums can become swollen, bleed, and recede. Teeth can become longer, shift, and loosen. Bad breath may occur. In individuals who smoke, bleeding may be less noticeable due to the effect of nicotine on blood vessels. Therefore, gum diseases may be detected late.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

What is the treatment process for gum disease?<\/h3>

At the beginning of the treatment process, hard plaques on the teeth are removed by our expert doctors. For successful treatment, you will be instructed on how to properly clean the microbial dental plaque that causes the disease using the correct brushing and flossing techniques.<\/p>\n

More severe infections with inflamed, enlarged, or receding gums can occur. Additionally, gaps can form between the teeth and gums due to bone loss. The treatment of such gum diseases requires surgical interventions using local anesthesia.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled at 3, 6, and 12-month intervals after the treatment.<\/p>\n
